“Many of us are missing something in life because we are after the second best. I put before you what I have found to be the best-One who is worthy of all our devotion-Jesus Christ. He is a Savior for the young and the old, and He, only He, is the One who can bring out the best that is in us. Lord, here I am.” Eric Liddell 1902-1945
Eric Liddell demonstrated his faithfulness to Christ even when being interned in a Japanese prison camp while a missionary in China. He marshaled the prisoners, which included many women and children, lined them up with heads held high, and marched into the camp singing hymns to our Lord. He preached, taught school, gave counsel, organized sports, and gave witness to the wonder of Christ in us. He died while imprisoned and joined with countless other saints of old who, “Loved Him in life and loved Him in death, and praised Him as long as He giveth me breath.” The Chineese erected a monument to Eric Liddell for his love, faithfulness, and dedication to the Chineese people.
